Thanks for the kind words, from both Pete and Tom!

Tom, I took Pete's comment about me being a dipstick as a compliment.
Dipsticks are simple, yet valuable tools for assessing the current
situation, and they give you the information that you need to make good
decisions about what to do and what not to do. I'm honored to be though
of as such a useful and observant individual.

And, Pete, while I agree that I would be be better off if I got outside
more often, for my health, I'm so busy DOING so many other things -
including teaching a room full of kids how to be compassionate,
healthy, smart, and use good critical thinking skills to make good
decisions for not only themselves, but all the other inhabitants of
this beautiful and amazing world we live on, as well as trying to write
a book for activists about how not to burn out while still getting
things done, and helping a few friends overcome severe depression, all
while fighting off a bad case of bronchitis (possibly caused by mold) -
that I really don't have time to go down to the Greenway and try and
make Boston's mayor unhappy by yelling at him.

Oh, and Pete, I wonder what your thoughts are about dedicated lanes for
those other kinds of travellers? Why should only bicyclists get the
special treatment? Why can't horse drawn carriages, skateboarders,
rollerskaters, school buses, pedicabs (too wide for a bike lane),
electric scooters, Segways, etc. get their own special lanes, too? I'm
serious here. Yes, I'm taking this to an extreme, but it's because I
really want to understand your logic for promoting special lanes for
one type of vehicle vs. other types of vehicles. It just doesn't make
sense to me, since I'm coming from the belief in diversity and
equality, not segregation and inequality.
