MASSBIKE APRIL UPDATE



O’Naturals Fundraiser: Please Stop By This Saturday, April 2 and Hear a Talk
on Rail-Trails



Please visit the Grand Opening of O’Naturals in Davis Square, Somerville,
this Saturday, April 2! O’Naturals, a healthy and unique fast food café and
restaurant, will donate 10% of sales that day to MassBike. O’Naturals is
located in the old Carberry’s space at 187 Elm Street.



At 4:00 p.m., Somerville Bike Coordinator Steve Winslow will give a talk on
“The Somerville Community Path and Beyond: Bike Trails in Eastern
Massachusetts.” (Unfortunately, rail-trail expert Craig Della Penna will
not, as was advertised in some other venues, be at O’Naturals that day.)



You may also want to stop by to see “Silly Kids’ Songs” by Ken Sheldon from
12:00-1:00 p.m.; Scottish fiddler Hillary McCabe from 2:00-2:45 p.m., and
acoustic guitar and vocals by Dwight Richter and Nicole Nelson from
6:30-7:15 p.m.





Join Us at Our Next MassBike Harpoon/Blue Frog Social in Boston—Thursday,
April 21



Take a break after work on Thursday, April 21. MassBike will be hosting a
members’ social from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Harpoon Brewery, 306 Northern
Avenue, Boston, featuring Harpoon beer and delicious treats from the Blue
Frog Bakery in Jamaica Plain. This is your chance to spread the word about
MassBike—get in free when you bring a friend and introduce them to bike
advocacy! Regular suggested donation is $5-$10.



OutRiders’ Boston to Provincetown Ride Signs on as MassBike Sponsor



The cycling group OutRiders is hosting its 21st annual Boston to
Provincetown bicycle ride on June 18th, 2005, and they have agreed to donate
$1 per rider to MassBike in support of cycling advocacy. Please consider
signing up for this fun and challenging one day, 130 mile ride! They are
seeking 300 riders and 60 volunteers for the ride, which features a kickoff
pre-ride event on Friday evening, the ride on Saturday, and a follow-up
Sunday Brunch at the Provincetown Inn—all for only $60 per rider. For more

Jason and Fischer Signs on as $2500 Sponsor of MassBike—Have your Company
Host a Bike Commuter Workshop



Bike-friendly law firm Jason and Fischer has signed on as a $2500 sponsor of
MassBike, helping advance our advocacy agenda. Jason and Fischer will be the
key sponsor of MassBike’s Business Bike Commuter Workshops. If you would
like your company or organization to hold a lunchtime workshop on how to

Central Mass Transportation Information Forum



Would you like to learn more about transportation issues and bikeways in
Central Mass? The Central Mass Regional Planning Commission is hosting a
forum on Friday, April 8 from 7:45 a.m.—10:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn at 500
Lincoln Street, Worcester. Speakers will address issues such as the
transportation impacts of the CitySquare project in downtown Worcester and
will give an update on the Blackstone River Bikeway. For more information,

Auto CAD Expert Wanted



Do you have expertise in Auto CAD, a computer design program? If so,
MassBike needs you for a short but critical project. We only need a few

MassBike Chapter Update



The recently formed MassBike-Metro Boston chapter has decided to focus on
“regional bike routes” as a major chapter initiative, working with cities
and towns on signage, improved road conditions, filling in gaps, and
ensuring that bikes are accommodated. The chapter is also looking for
volunteers for key advocacy roles. Come join us on Wednesday, April 27 at a
new time and location: 6:30-8:30 p.m. in downtown Boston, near the Common.

Job Opening: Part-Time, Temporary Boston Bicycle Coordinator



The Boston STEPS program, under the Boston Public Health Commission, is
seeking a part-time bicycling coordinator who will work 25 hours/week (times
negotiable; includes some evening and weekend meetings) until September 21,
2005. Pay is $20-$25/hr, based on experience. The candidate will work to
increase capacity for bicycling within Boston neighborhoods, coordinate
safety events, and will be involved in planning for October’s Boston Bicycle
Festival. Must be a Boston resident (or willing to relocate). Submit
