Is it not? Why, back in what the National Rifle Association would consider the Good Old Days, you had this for sale from the 1908 Brooks saddle catalog:

REGISTERED SERVICE PATTERN RIFLE CLIPS.
Adopted by His Majesty's War Office and Supplied to many Volunteer Corps.

SPORTING-GUN CLIPS.
The clips are made of pressed steel, strongly covered in solid leather, with stout leather adjustable straps. They are readily fixed to the machine by means of bolts and butterly nuts.

This view shows the position of the clips on the machine, and also the manner of fixing the gun, which is carried from the left hand rear to the right hand front of the cycle.

So the precident for carrying a rifle or shotgun on a bicycle is well established by one of the premier bicycle component manufacturers.

Remember: bikes don't kill people. (But guns and cars do!)
