Reality shows, celebrity apologies, celebrity weight loss products … the whole thing seems to flatten out what it means to be human. For
me, painting is a way to fight back. </FONT> <BR></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#00407f><FONT size=3><FONT size=4> </FONT><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=4>I've been asked: "If you don’t like popular culture, why do you use movie stars and such in your art?” My response is: to transmute them, to give them energy, and embed them in the realm of the personal, the dream, and the collective unconscious. To dream them onto the canvas, to use them as one’s subconscious might in a dream, only this dream can be seen by others. In this way, I like to depict the mystery and power of the inner world, which is still safe from corporate development, for want of a better phrase.</FONT> </FONT></FONT> <BR></FONT> </DIV> <DIV align=center><FONT face="comic sans ms" color=#438059 size=3>Biography – Cameron Wilder <BR></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="comic sans ms" color=#438059
size=3> Cameron Wilder, a Bostonian, has loved art since getting lost in the illustrations of his dinosaur books as a kid. Illustrations of the natural world fascinated him with the music of their color and created space. Trips to the Museum of Fine Arts introduced him to the works of artists such as <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1210364720_2 style="BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; CURSOR: hand; BORDER-BOTTOM: #0066cc 1px dashed">Edward Hopper</SPAN>, whose grandeur and melancholy stirred him; and <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1210364720_3 style="CURSOR: hand; BORDER-BOTTOM: #0066cc 1px dashed">Vincent van Gogh,</SPAN> whose <EM>Sunflowers</EM> seemed to contain the emotion of living stars. An English major in college who wrote poetry as an avocation for many years, he has come to find painting a more intuitive and satisfying pursuit. <BR></FONT></DIV></DIV></DIV></DIV></DIV><p>
