I want to let you all know of an event at the
Cambridge Coop this Friday.  This whole weekend, in
DC, there's a huge event called Winter Soldier,  run
by the Iraq Veterans Against the War. I'll post the
description  below.

Anyways, at my house we're going to gather people
together to watch  one part of it, from 7-8:30pm on
Friday the 14th. It's streaming on  the web (and on
local cable access) so we're projecting it on the 
wall. there will be snacks, but bring your own
alcohol! You are all  invited.

We'll be watching just one panel:
7:00PM - 8:30PM Aims of the Global War on Terror: the
Political, Legal, and Economic Context of Iraq and
Afghanistan
This panel will explore the history of U.S. policy in
Iraq and Afghanistan, the current strategic and
economic goals of the occupations and the impact of
both domestic and foreign policies associated with the
"Global War on Terror." (Speakers: Anthony Arnove,
author of Iraq: The Logic of Withdrawal; Michael
Schwartz, author of forthcoming War Without End: The
Iraq War in Context; Amy Goodman, host of Democracy
Now radio and television show; Anita Foster)

Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan will feature
testimony from U.S.  veterans who served in those
occupations, giving an accurate account  of what is
really happening day in and day out, on the ground.

The four-day event will bring together veterans from
across the  country to testify about their experiences
in Iraq and Afghanistan -  and present video and
photographic evidence. In addition, there will  be
panels of scholars, veterans, journalists, and other
specialists to  give context to the testimony. These
panels will cover everything from  the history of the
GI resistance movement to the fight for veterans' 
health benefits and support.
