I have the pleasure of attaching the message of the Intetnational
Co-operative Alliance (ICA) for International Women's Day celebrated
around the world on 8 March 2007.

This year the theme of the message is ""Co-operative Action to stop
violence against Women".  The joint message from ICA president, Ivano
Barberini, and Chairperson of the ICA Gender Equality Committee, Stefania
Marcone, calls on ICA members and co-operators around the world to take
action to stop violence against women and so continue to work towards
giving women the opportunities to enable them to make a difference in our
co-operatives and communities.

We encourage you to share this message with your co-operative colleagues. 
To facilitate dissemination, the message will is available from the ICA
website and is downloadable at
www.ica.coop/gender/activities/2007-int-womens-day.pdf .

ICA would also be interested in learning if your organisation celebrates
International Women's Day and if so, what activities you are organising on
the occasion of this International Day.  We would also be interested in
receiving information on how co-operatives are tackling the issue of
violence against women and in particular any policies and activtities
undertaken to stop all forms of violence against women.
