Hi housing co-ops! Read on, and ponder whether you might help out with this...

There is a fantastic event coming up October 5-7 in Davis Sq, Somerville called the Honk festival. See: www.honkfest.org. This is essentially a festival of very large, politically oriented acoustic street bands. Maybe you caught it last year. It was completely amazing. And this year is shaping up to be even bigger and more amazing.

AMAZING, mostly because these bands have come a long, long way, from all over the continent, I'm not shitting you. The Honk fest organizers have raised lots and lots of money to contribute to the travel expenses of 20 bands, which average somewhere in the range of 12-15 members each. This year there are even bands coming from Europe!

Where you come in, is that all these folks need places to stay! Last year lots of people put up band members from out of town, but this year there are even more people to house (hundreds, actually, if you do the math). We're looking for places that can provide space for anywhere from 2 to 20 people to stay for the weekend. They would be more or less fed through Honk fest activities, and would be very busy all weekend, would probably be coming home kind of late and very tired. They will be very happy and excited people, if it's anything like last year. The closer they can stay to Davis Square the better! And backyards to camp in, beds to sleep in, couches and floors to crash on, get all the more valuable the closer they are to Davis Sq, but last year whole bands stayed very happily in Jamaica Plain and Roxbury as well.

Please get back to me or Trudi Cohen (email above) if you can provide housing for even a couple of folks! Think hard about whether you could provide housing for a LOT of folks! Thanks!

Stacey
